Psalm 89:14

If freedom and captivity were absolutes, then it should mean that not being prison is freedom. We know that’s not true. That’s a topic for another day though.
Working this year under an organization that advocates for human right and dignity, has changed forever how I perceive an offender, ex-offender. Anyway that’s another topic added to our bucket list😄
Joseph was in prison because he was right. Ironically, you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. It was that truth that led the brothers and the wife of Potiphar to betray and plot against Joseph. A lady once said to me that, Christians read the bible like its not practical. You dont have to be convicted enough to know about the coat that Joseph wore.
Joseph clearly was born and carried something so threatening that he found himself always at the bottom of the justice system. It wasnt fair. No one should have to pay such a heavy price for a gift they did not choose to be born with. I cant begin to imagine the anguish that Joseph was in. He was punished for something he had no choice in…but I think it was more than that, Joseph carried a message. The war was not about his brothers or Potiphars wife, this was a direct planned assassination on the hope, potency and character of Joseph. Twice, in different contexts, he suffered injustice. How do we break the cycles when we cant wish the virtue away? It seemed wherever he would go, his invisible coat was bound to cause discomfort and controversy.
This is not an isolated incident. Brother Daniel was too, imprisoned for being right. See? The dilemma of truth. Are people always imprisoned for being wrong? The bible provides perspective about the reality of life. It could be anyone. Why is this context so hard to imagine in the world we live today? I mean, if there are people who claim to be followers of Christ, has this ever crossed your mind? Is the system, human error free. How do we restore the dignity of the falsely accused? Are there any measures put in place? Are they effective? Have you ever heard of recompensation for wrongful incarceration? Just thoughts…
It wasnt the end of Joseph, ofcourse we serve a just God. However, I just need to ponder on this today…this is not just a Bible story. It’s a reality. What is it about these Joseph’s thay the enemy is hell bent on silencing!!
Take them out by all means.
Trapped Potential.
